Wellbeing and mindfulness are topics that are very important in today's busy lifestyle. During Treefrog Yoga group sessions, children will learn techniques to help them find space and focus in their daily lives, giving them tools to direct their thoughts meaningfully and with purpose. Louise has experience in delivering these skills to schools and nurseries in large or smaller groups, either as regular sessions or for Wellbeing days. She also teaches Scout and Brownie/Guide groups and can hold
after-school or lunchtime clubs.
Yoga is often thought of as a persuit for the bendy and the quiet, but Treefrog Yoga classes are exciting and fully inclusive. Every child is invited to connect and stretch through short periods of calm focused activities mixed with fun and lively yoga games. Louise is experienced in teaching classes to those with physical and emotional additional needs and is able to adapt the session, being mindful of the capabilities of each person in the class. . Individual sessions are available if required.
Louise uses props, instruments and techniques to make yoga and mindfulness accessible and fun to all children. She includes lots of animal and transport poses (and noises!) for the younger children and gives older children the knowledge to create their own sequences and flows. Classes usually end with a child-friendly meditation, designed to allow children to focus quietly on their senses and be calm.
Louise explains breathing techniques, yoga poses and meditation to children in a way that they will be able to understand and digest. Through teaching the children enjoyable ways to remember and practise these skills, it allows mindfulness and yoga to easily be part of every day, both in the classroom and at home. Teachers will be able to take some of these skills to use in the classroom environment to encourage mindfulness as part of the classroom routine.
Treefrog Yoga sessions follow a regular structure at the beginning and end so that everyone knows what to expect, but the middle is co-created with the children. We go on yoga journies to countries, find out about world tales using props, music, animal and partner poses and instruments, or we may focus on a particular story or theme. This can be adapted to your current topic or the children's interests.
Louise is an experienced Primary school Teacher of 17 years, and has taught across Key Stages from Nursery to Year 6. She holds a current enhanced DBS and Pediatric First Aid certificate, and is qualified to teach yoga to Children and Families with Rainbow Yoga, certified by the Yoga Alliance. Louise has recently become a Rainbow Yoga UK Ambassador, and has taught Mindfulness and Movement yoga at London Om Yoga and Vegan Life Shows. Louise loves the creativity that Rainbow yoga provides, as it allows all children to learn meaningful skills in a fun and exciting way.
